Google Maps API Now Requiring Payment

Working on a website that is using Hot Themes extension Hot Maps and the module is suddenly broken. The browser console is pointing to a an invalid API code. I logged into to Google to update the API and copying the Key I have been using for months, but the map is still broken.

Hot Themes tech support is telling me to go to the page to get the API Key.

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

When i get there I am being informed about a new pricing structure starting on June 11, 2018.

Clicked on “Get Started”.

Selected “Maps” and clicked “Continue”.

I used the down arrow to select the “Project”.

I am now presented to “Create Billing Account”.

This was a free service. I clicked “Cancel” and got the next screen which looked promising.

I was brought to a screen to enter a credit card. I am doing this for a company I work for and don’t want to enter my personal card info, so I was stuck.

I am hoping to get this resolved. I have been in contact with HotJoomlaTemplates and I am not sure they know about this new process.

Gantry WordPress Post Titles Not Linking

We switched our theme to Gantry and were very pleased; however, the blog post titles were no longer linking to the post. I quick search got me to Gantry’s site and an explanation on how to fix.

http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/configure/content

In the WordPress Dashboard go into Gantry Theme area on the left sidebar. At the top of the page click on “Content”.

Then scroll down to “Post Title”. Check “Link Title”.

Unable To Send Email From Office 365 Shared Mailbox

Had a customer and the newer employee was getting a error that they didn’t have permission to send email from a shared mailbox.  Here is how we were able to resolve this.

  • Log into the Office 365 account with the Admin credentials
  • Under “Groups” go to “Shared Mailboxes”
  • Click on the mailbox to open it’s properties
  • Under the “Members” section click “Customize Permissions”
  • Under the “Send as” section click “Edit”
  • Click “Add Permissions” and check the user you need to add and click “Save”.

Critical Error Event ID: 41 – The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first

We have seen this several times and different users out there have their fix for it. At first I would be looking at the power supply as the suspect, but others are pointing to the “Power Options”.

I got a call for this error today and changed the power options to “never” turn of display or computer. I also went into the the advanced options and manually typed in “never” for turning off the “hard disk”.

UPDATE:
(8/21/2020):
I had this happen again to another machine to which may have been ready to go into a sleep mode; however, when the BSOD showed up there was “video TDR failure” mentioned. In following this error message I came across the following article which actually may be a better solution to this issue.

Barracuda X100 – Temporary Unavailable

We have a customer that maintains a Barracuda X100 firewall, and they were suddenly getting “Temporarly Unavailable” when trying to access the web interface. The following article was a help getting us access to the admin console.

https://community.barracudanetworks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29256-unable-to-access-barracuda-login-page/

After  the “/cgi-mod” in the URL we added “/index.cgi?error=3&locale=en_US&primary_tab=ADVANCED&secondary_tab=troubleshooting” ( without the quotes), and hit enter.  We could then access the admin panel.
