Find Office 365 Partner Relationship

We needed to find a new customer’s reseller account for Office 365. It is easy…

  1. Log into their Office 365 account.
If you are locked out of the admin account start the process to correct as soon as you can.
  2. Our accounts show an “Admin” button on the dashboard/splash screen, click the “Admin” button.
  3. On the left-side menu expand “Settings” by clicking on “Settings” and select “Partner relationships

The following article got me headed on the right path.

VOIP – Verizon, Comcast Or Third Party

Voice Over IP is has been around for a long time; however, not until internet speeds were they really a viable option for businesses. We have worked with several companies now and this is one thing we find import to consider and that is “who is your ISP?”

One of customers is with Comcast as the ISP and wants to move over to Verizon to gain the advantages of inexpensive Fiber Optic lines now available at their place of business. The issue is they have Comcast VOIP and they would have to spend a lot of time swapping over their phone system.

We would suggest you look at third-party options such a Nextiva. This will allow you the flexibility of moving between different ISPs without a lot of configuration changes.

Function Keys Not Working On Keyboard

We got a call from a user who says the keyboard it typing wrong letters. We used the “Device Manager” to see if the driver was up-to-date, and it was. We discovered there was a Extension in her Chrome browser that was labeled as Malware and was suppose to help type-to-search. We removed this Extension, reset the browser, and restarted the machine.

When the machine came back up we found the keyboard to work fine. The customer said the Function Keys still didn’t work right. In a search we discovered this article and the “Function Lock” key.

Sure enough the customer had a “F Lock” key. She pressed this key and turned off the function lock and everything was working as normal.

Outlook Not Opening Excel Document – EMET

Had a customer who was having issues opening Office attachments from Outlook. EMET was popping up and preventing Excel and Word from opening attachments in Outlook.

I found this article which got me started.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/deeb260d-96c5-4cb4-80a0-f5242d33095b/emet-55-simexecflow-blocking-excel-amp-other-office-opening?forum=emet

This didn’t fix the issue because Excel and Word were still blocked by EMET.  This also messed up the Office 2013 install, so I ran a repair on Office 2013 from Add and Remove Programs. When Excel opened up I had to re-activate the Office programs. I got this repaired.

I removed EMET and re-installed the latest EMET 5.5. This still didn’t resolve the issue. I found this this next link that lead me down a good path.

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/144762-emet-simexecflow-problem-now-appears-fix-on-my-system/

I removed MalwareBytes, restarted the machine, and everything was working now.

I imported the three .XML files mentioned in the link above as well.

Shared Google Calendar To External Email Addresses

This can be straight forward; however, it has to be set up correctly in GSuite Calendar App.

This is what we needed for a customer to share his Google Calendar to others outside his organization.

At first others could see the event; however, it only showed as being busy.

Godaddy Hosting Websites In Other Directories

We have a customer with Deluxe hosting with Godaddy. They have several sites running on separate hosting packages and we were able to combine both websites on to one hosting package.

The big trick was directing the domain to the right folder in the Public HTML folder. In the CPanel navigate to Domains >> Addon Domains.

Next to the Domain name you want to change click the Pencil icon next to the Document Root. Here you can enter the name of the new directory/folder you want this site to live.

Solved – Excel “Function Not Valid”

We ran into an issue with a Excel spreadsheet where pasting text into a field was causing it make the text a formula.

The answer is not use the “@” symbol in the beginning of the text. Some people recommend using an apostrophe or something before the text.  The following link helped us solve this.
